Omega 3 EPA: Nature’s Very Own Anti-depressant

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

By Jane Stewart Since Dr Malcolm Peet, a consultant psychiatrist at Sheffield swallow court hospital released his findings about the effects of Ethyl Epa and its effects on people suffering from depression and low moods, many other studies have been performed using Ethyl Epa to help treat depression and related disorders. The vast majority of the studies that have been performed consistently confirmed that Ethyl Epa, a natural substance found in omega 3 fish oil, helps relieve depression and low moods. The idea that high grade omega 3 EPA could be used to help combat depression and other related disorders came from the late Dr Horribin, who as early as the 1970s was a pioneer in lipid research involving the brain and central nervous system. Since the findings at Sheffield, studies have been conducted round the world, Harvard university 1999, London Hammersmith hospital 2001 and Israel Ben Gurion University 2002 to name but a few. EPA As Part Of A Healthy Diet EPA is part of the Omega 3 chain of ecosanoids and is most commonly found in fatty fish such as fresh salmon, mackerel, pilchards and sardines. Over the past 100 years the diet patterns of most people in the west has shifted dramatically to include far more hydrogenated oils and Trans fatty acids (bad fats) this is largely due to the increased consumption of fast food and ready made meals. Even people who think they eat a healthy diet consume way too much omega 6 and not enough omega 3. Researchers have recently found that a diet high in Trans fatty acids could affect the mood stabilizing hormones within the brain, this is thought to be due to the saturated fats slowing down the messaging system within the brain, should this happen then the onset of depression could occur. How Does EPA Work? While the benefits of high grade EPA have been well documented, the scientific community still dont know exactly how EPA works on the brain, one theory released by Dr Basant Puri is that it eases the passage of the signals over the tiny gaps in the brain called synapses. Another theory was that the high Grade Epa actually worked similar to lithium and had anti depressant properties of its own. Until recently it was widely accepted in the medical community that once a human reached maturity that the adult brain could not grow anymore, in a recent paper just released by Dr Puri his findings show other wise. Dr Puri scanned a 21 year patient before treating him with high grade Pure Epa, after the course of treatment he rescanned the young man only to find that the grey matter of the brain had increased in size. Omega 3 EPA And The Body As well as EPA being very good for helping to balance mood it has other well documented effects on the body, these included:- Blood thinning properties Decrease risk of heart attack Decrease growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque Slightly lower blood pressure There is also some limited scientific evidence to show that high grade EPA has helped people suffering from:- Bipolar disorder PMS Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME Huntingtons disease Fibromyalgia Obsessive compulsive disorder Schizophrenia ADHD ADD Although more research needs to be done in these areas, the current evidence looks very promising. EPA Versus DHA Omega 3 fish oil contains another omega 3 nutrient called DHA, there is a currently a controversial argument as to which omega 3 nutrient is the more beneficial in dealing with depression and related disorders. This Argument is born from doctors who have used high grade Epa , Horribin, Puri and Peet They claim that the higher the ratio of Epa to Dha the more effective the results have been, just recently Dr Andrew Stoll has also come out in support of this theory. EPA From Food Any good doctor or nutritionist will tell you that the best way to get any nutrient is to eat a very balanced diet of the correct amount of carbohydrates , protein and omega essential fatty acids. In the case of Omega 3 epa this would be in the form of fish, unfortunately due to the high concentration levels of epa needed to obtain a therapeutic dose you would have to consume a large amount of oily fish daily and sadly due to the pollution levels found in our oceans today this is not advisable. Omega 3 Epa can also be found in high doses in certain fish oil supplements, when choosing a fish oil supplement you should choose only the fish oil of the highest quality it should also have as high an EPA to DHA ratio as possible, for maximum therapeutic effect. Conclusion The large majority of scientific trails using high grade Omega 3 Ethyl Epa point towards this natural oil being very beneficial for many conditions. The argument about the DHA rages on and probably will until some solid scientific evidence is presented to us .In the mean time a product with a high EPA to DHA ratio is considered more beneficial by some leading UK doctors. Guarantees: Why You Should Offer Them

Friday, October 19th, 2007

By Alicia Forest There are many questions that often come up for new small business owners around offering guarantees - what kind, how long, am I risking too much by doing so, and even if they should offer them at all. In my business, I offer a guarantee on everything I sell. The guarantees for my products are slightly different than the guarantees I give for my 1:1 coaching and consulting services, but the one thing they have in common is this: Guarantees remove the risk from your buyer. And yes, that means that then the “risk” is on your shoulders, but that’s exactly where it should be. After all, if you’re providing something of value that you believe in, standing behind it should be very easy to do. Here are some other thoughts about offering guarantees for your products/services, based on my experience and knowledge: 1. Guarantees make it easier for your prospect to buy… If you offer a 100% money-back, no-questions-asked guarantee, you’ve answered your potential buyer’s # 1 objection - “But what if it doesn’t work for me?” By assuring them that, if your product or service doesn’t do what you say it will for your buyer, you’ll give them their money back without demanding a reason, you’re assured more sales. 2. Guarantees are proven to make more sales… You may think that by offering a guarantee people are going to take advantage of it unscrupulously, especially if you’re selling a digital product. After all, you can’t really take an ebook back once someone has downloaded it to their computer (and yes, I know there is software available that turns “off” a returned copy, although I don’t recommend you use it). But so few people will really do that that it’s not worth not offering a guarantee. There will always be a few turkeys who will take advantage, but I suggest you leave it up to the Universe or Karma or whatever to take care of them. 3. Offer a strong guarantee… Meaning, 100% money-back, no-questions-asked, one-year guarantee. Studies agree that the longer the guarantee, the less returns you’ll get. Why? Because people are busy, and they will appreciate a longer time to try something out before they have to return it. And frankly, unless they are furious about a purchase, it’s unlikely they will ask for their money back, especially it’s been awhile since they bought it. 4. Guarantees for services… If you’re a service provider, like a coach or consultant, it may be a bit more difficult to put a guarantee on your results because usually you need your client’s active participation to achieve any results. And since there is really no way that you can make them engage, it wouldn’t be wise to place all the responsibility for results on you. As part of your contract with your client, you might want to include a detailed list of what it is that you will be providing as well as what the expectations are of the client, and that any requests for refunds will be based on what expectations were met on both sides of the agreement and to what degree. This can be very tricky, though, so to paraphrase a business coach I worked with a few years ago, I’d suggest this option instead: “Here’s your money, off you go…” 5. Guarantees are promises… If you offer something of value and you believe in it, then it’s easy for you to make promises about what it can do. It should be equally as easy, then, to offer an iron-clad guarantee to back up those promises. Offering a strong guarantee will put your potential buyer at ease and make more sales for you. Cell Phone and Children!

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Douglas_Bower]Douglas Bower I just heard from my sister in the U.S. who wished me a Happy New Year. She told me that my soon-to-be 14-year-old nephew got a cell phone for Christmas. I am trying desperately to understand this. To give you a little background, I worked for A.T. & T. when they unveiled this amazing technology. I can still remember the material the company put out about cellular phones. I was simply amazed. I remember thinking this invention could be a wonderful help for people. The group of people I thought would benefit most were doctors. They could be called and would be able to give medical advice and instruction at a moments notice. The old way was inefficient and slow. Doctors had to answer a pager, get to phone, find change or fumble with a phone card (which was always expired), and then call the hospital. Meantime, Mrs. Johnson had to deliver her own baby because Dr. Abdul wasnt able to get off the Interstate to answer his page. Now, doctors, the group which benefits from this Star Trek technology, can be called almost anywhere on the planet. Mrs. Johnson no longer has to have her babies by herself. Although other professions most certainly benefit from this wonderful advance in communications, it was the medical guys that first popped into my mind. But, a 14-year-old boy? Cell phones for children? I find this idea almost impossible to grasp. I would love to tell you that giving cell phones to minor children is an idea limited to the decadently overindulged Americans and that Mexicans would NOT commit such a horror. But I would be lying. In this small, colonial Mexican town, where you simply could yell out the window if you needed to communicate (who needs phones, anyway?), Mexican parents buy their teenage (and younger) children cell phones. Why? Why? Why? Someone tell me why! So, in trying to figure this out, I want to run some reasons by you about why an almost 14-year-old child might need a cell phone. The New World Order (a.k.a. King G. Bush the First) is run by immature and unthinking children who have formed a secret society called The Children and Crossbones. This has to be the case since no thinking, mature adult would have our country in the toilet that it is in now. The kids control everything and everyone. They have to have their cell phones to keep in close and intimate contact with whomever they need to direct. Doctors are now graduating from Medical School at the age of 13 and have to have those unbearable cell phones to save their patients lives. They are the new generation of Dougie Howser, M.D. Every child you see with a cell phoneand I mean every child without exceptionhas such personal family problems that a parent might have to call them at any moment and say, Quick, take a cab to the hospital! Granny is on her last leg! The CIA (and right now, this might be the most believable of these options) is run by 13-year-olds. They have to call in their spying reports and could not do this without their wonderfully annoying cell phones. All the 13-year-olds with cell phones are actually members of the American Press Corps (another possible idea considering the state of the American press) and have to have cell phones to call in their stories. As much as I would like to believe one of these scenarios as a possibility, I am afraid the truth is that unthinking parents give their children cell phones as status symbols. No child needs a cell phone! Not one! Just like upper middle-class Americans think they need to drive huge, gas-guzzling SUVs because the Joness have one, they think their little Buffys and Chads need to have cell phones. Because all their friends have cell phones, they have to have them too. Doug Bower is a freelance writer and book author. 300 Movie Workout for Men and Women - Weight Loss & Calorie Burning

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

By Craig Ballantyne The 300 movie workout is the talk of the fitness world. The 300 workout helped actors chisel Greek Statue bodies while causing weight loss and calorie burning. Here’s a version of the workout for men and women. The 300 workout is a challenging 300 repetition workout put together by a trainer for actors in the 300 movie. It helped to sculpt their bodies for the legendary fight scenes. And the 300 workout was also legendary. Here’s how it went down…don’t try this at home! There was no rest between exercises… a) Pullups - 25 reps b) Deadlifts with 135lbs - 50 reps c) Pushups - 50 reps d) 24-inch Box jumps - 50 reps e) Floor wipers - 50 reps (This exercise has to be seen to be believed) f) 1-arm Clean n Press with 36lbs Kettlebell - 50 reps g) Pullups - 25 reps A man in superfit shape can do this in less than 20 minutes. But what about the rest of us? Fortunately, this can easily be changed. Appropriate exercises should be subbed in, and you should drop down to 100 total reps - or as .: recommends - 4-6 exercises of 15-25 reps each. For example, you might do a 200-repetition workout - this is great for a man with moderate fitness: 20 prisoner squats 20 pushups 5 Chinups 100 Jumping Jacks 40 Bicycle Crunches 10 decline pushups 15 bodyweight rows Optionally, you could do 100 reps of rope jumping to finish off 100 total reps! An intermediate woman could do a 150 rep workout: 10 Bodyweight Sumo Squats 5 bodyweight rows 15 bodyweight squats 5 pushups 10 kneeling pushups 50 jumping jacks 10 spiderman climbs 20 reverse lunges 25 bicycle crunches You might even rest 5 minutes and try and go through it again for 300 total repetitions. Tough, but fair. So you can do your own version of the 300 workout and build your own Greek God or Greek Goddess body. Work with a trainer to come up with other ideas. And always, train safe. Why Choose Green Tea Diet And Are There Any Downsides?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

By Cathy Freeman Due to the popularity of recent findings, green tea diet has almost become a must for every person wanting to lose weight. The addition of green tea into diet pills and weight loss supplements is perhaps spurred by reports of harmful side-effects of other drugs like ephedra. Why choose green tea diet? For four thousand years, this type of dieting has been used all throughout Asia as a beneficial health and medicinal drink. It is different from all other tea diets because its liquid is extracted by steaming the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant as opposed to full oxidation. In this way, the tea manages to preserve a lot more antioxidants and keep them intact for the body to use. Green tea diet is an excellent source of polycatechin polyphenols, a group of antioxidants that act on free radicals. These free radicals have harmful effects on the body since they are the major causes of diseases and aging. With green teas polycatechin polyphenols, a person has a better chance of avoiding ailments and keeping himself healthy for a much longer period of time. Another antioxidant in green tea is also being studied as a potential cure for cancer. Epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG has been discovered to destroy cancer cells while keeping surrounding healthy cells unharmed. The EGCG also acts with another compound, caffeine (a small amount of this is found in green tea). The interaction of these two compounds causes green tea to promote thermogenesis in the body. It has been noted by a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that with the consumption of green tea, the bodys total 24-hour energy expenditure is increased by up to four percent. This is roughly equivalent to losing more than 10 pounds of weight a month. Green tea diet helps increase the bodys metabolic rates too. With its thermogenic properties, it is only natural that it can also promote faster metabolism of fats and sugars. Excess glucose found in the body is turned into fats by the hormone insulin. Because green tea has an inhibiting effect on insulin, it therefore helps keep sugar from being stored as fats and instead, send them directly into the muscles for immediate use. The downside to a green tea diet Although this type of diet has a reputation for boosting health, scientific proofs of its health benefits are still somewhat mixed. However, in an article published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, American researchers collaborated with their Chinese counterparts to discuss the beneficial effects of green tea on cholesterol levels. Using 240 men and women (average age 55) who possess mild to moderately high LDL cholesterol levels, the researchers instructed them to retain their usual low-fat diet, green tea diet intake, and activity levels. After twelve weeks, it was found that those who consumed green tea with their regular meals lost more than fifteen percent of their total LDL cholesterol levels. Although the researchers never explained how the tea may influence cholesterol levels, previous studies have shown that certain compounds in green tea play a role in reducing the amount of cholesterol absorbed by the body, increasing amount of cholesterol excreted, and thus keeping cholesterol from being stored in the liver. Subsequent studies were made to test the findings of the first group of researchers. Their results were contradictory. They found that green tea diet has no significant effect on the cholesterol profiles of their subjects. There is no such thing as a miracle diet. Green tea diet, like all other diets, needs a lot of work and input from those who enroll in it. It required both discipline and heart for it to make any significant impact on your weight loss goals. Cathy Freeman is a green tea lover and shares her knowledge about Green Tea Diet on her website http://green-tea-time.blogspot.com. Join her for a cup of tea and learn more about this healthy drink. Earthworm Friends in the Garden

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

By Marilyn Pokorney Earthworms are a gardener’s best friend. Research has shown that earthworm excrement, also calledcastings or vermicompost, improves the aeration, porosity, structure, drainage, and moisture-holding capacity of soil. Many studies prove that when compared to conventionalcomposts, vermicompost is less variable and much morestable. Mixing vermicompost into the planting mediumessentially eliminated the need for additional fertilizer inthe production of tomato plugs as one example. Studies show that earthworm castings increase height, stemdiameter, enhance root growth, increase dry weight, andproduce more flowers per plant than peat moss. Redworm castings are the richest and purest humus matter inthe world. Humus is believed to aid in the prevention ofharmful plant pathogens, fungi, nematodes and bacteria. One pound of worms can convert one pound of pig manure intocompost in 48 hours! Worms consume three times their weight a week or more. Redwrigglers are very active, reproduce quickly and consumetheir own body weight of waste every 24 hours. Therefore tenpounds of worms will eat ten pounds of waste in 24 hours! Worm castings provide a rich source of a variety ofessential plant nutrients. Microbial activity in worm castings is 10 to 20 times higherthan in the soil and organic matter that the worm ingests.” How to use worm castings: When planting vegetable and annuals line the rows and holeswith about two inches of castings. About every eight weeksside dress the plants with one-half cup of castings perplant or one cup per foot of row. For perennials work one-half cup of castings into the soilin the spring, middle of summer, and early fall. For pots and hanging baskets add one-half inch castings tothe top and water in. Then reapply every eight weeks. Roses appreciate four cups of castings per plant. If starting a new lawn add 15 pounds of casting per 100square feet when sowing. Once established use seven poundsper 100 square feet. Have You Lost Touch with Your Hunger Signals?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

By Janice Elizabeth Small Every human being is born with the ability to eat only when hungry and stop eating when satisfied. After all every baby and toddler will show you exactly when they’ve had enough. But somehow along the way you may have lost that ability. Maybe years of being told to “clean your plate” have conditioned you to do just that no matter how much food is on it. Or maybe you’ve just got used to huge portions of food and have stopped listening to your body’s signals. Whatever the reason, the “knowing when to stop” skill is one that you need to redevelop if you want to lose weight and keep it off permanently. So how can you learn to listen to those signals again? 1. Eat slowly If you shovel in food like it’s going out of fashion you’ll be well past the point of being satisfied before you notice you’ve had enough. Pause before each bite and think about whether you’ve really had enough. 2. Eat more often If you are absolutely ravenous when you sit down to eat chances are that you will eat too much. Little and often will acclimatise your stomach to smaller amounts of food. 3. Serve smaller portions If something is on your plate, chances are you will eat it whether or not you need it. So serve less to start with. Having to go and get another portion gives you the chance to stop and think about whether you really need more. As a guide serve no more than two fistfuls of food as a main meal plus maybe some extra salad or vegetables. You really don’t need more than that if you’re eating regularly. 4. Leave extra food off the table Don’t make it too easy to fill up your plate with second helpings. 5. Single-portion snacks Never eat from the bag. Always serve yourself a portion on a plate and put the rest (far) away. Make every decision to eat more food a conscious decision. 6. Wear tighter clothing Stretchy clothes are comfortable but a nice snug fitting waistband is a good reminder to go easy on the amount you’re eating. 7. Eat at home Avoid eating out where you have little control over portion sizes. If you have no choice, choose the smallest portion of food. For example you can order the kid’s meal at a hamburger place or order a starter portion as a main course in a restaurant. 8. Make it satisfying If you still feel hungry even though you are physically full it may be that the meal was lacking in something you were looking for. Was there a balance of carbohydrate, protein and healthy fat? Was it packed full of vitamins and minerals? Did you serve the kind of food you wanted (sweet, crunchy, creamy or whatever)? Food needs to be balanced and worthwhile to be truly satisfying. 9. Eat when you’re hungry Don’t feel you have to eat just because it’s time for lunch or dinner. Wait until you are ready for food. Every diet book advises you to eat breakfast but if you’re not hungry you can wait. The trick there however is to take your healthy breakfast to wherever you’re going rather than to start devouring cakes and cookies once you get hungry later on. 10. Follow your own signals So much of our eating is triggered by the food we see or smell or get offered by others. Start becoming aware of how much this affects you. Once you recognise that you are choosing to eat solely in response to an ad or an offer of food it will be easier to say “No, I’m not hungry, thanks”. Cellphones Today - You Wish You Were in the Matrix

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Charles_Cruz]Charles Cruz Everybody today is looking for the coolest cellphone on the market. You get the one that does everything except cook for you, only to find out that the next day another one came out that can bake pancakes for breakfast, and cellphones just keep evolving and integrating more of the technology into a single device. Remember the movie the Matrix? You threw your cellphone out the building, into the trash, you would even beat a couple of agents with it, and the next day you already had a cooler one in you hands. We all wish it was this simple, but with the trends moving faster than ever before, cellphones are evolving rapidly today. The great thing about this is that you get a cool cellphone today, and in six months you can get another one with twice as much functions in it for the same price. Or if youre looking for comodity, than you can wait a couple of months and you can get the coolest cellphone that came out two months ago for a very good price. There really is no stop in technology. Today you can use your cellphone as an Mp3 player, a radio, your personal agenda, voice recorder and digital camera. The future seems good as the standard cellphones are now coming out with more and more of these functions. When you are looking to buy a new cellphone there are a few things you want to consider. Your choice of phone almost always depends on your choice of wireless service provider. In most cases you first need to figure out which carrier offers the best coverage and the best monthly service plan in your area. You can choose between flip-open, clamshell-style phones and standard non-flip phones. Flip phones can be more difficult to use with one hand because the cover may be heavier than the base, and some lack a separate caller ID screen on the cover that’s visible without opening the phone. Part of what makes a phone easy to use is its portability. A typical non-flip phone weighs about 4 ounces and is about the size of an energy bar–5 inches long, 2 inches wide, and an inch thick. Anything above that is considered large. Most new phones allow at least three hours of talk time and two to six days on standby. Some phones, including Nokia’s, can last up to 14 days on standby. Keep in mind that usage affects battery life, as well as the signal strength of your cellular service–a phone that constantly searches for signals will run itself down quickly. These are a few things you will want to consider before you decide for your cellphone. In summary what you want is a design that fits your personal style, a plan that fits your budget, and the accesories that match up with your everyday needs. Once you have that, you have a perfect matching cellphone for you. History Of The Loquat

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

By Patrick Malcolm Loquats, Eriobotrya japonica, are documented to have been grown in Japan around 1100 AD. Some botanists have suggested that the first plantings of the loquat trees may have come from China originally and later were introduced into Japan. The loquat tree was widely distributed in Europe after 1712, but early records show that it came to the United States in the mid-1800s. This prolific plant is now established firmly as a seed-borne naturalized fruit tree in hundreds of countries, even in the Southern United States, where it readily grows after the seed sprout from bird-planted visitations after eating the loquat fruit directly from the trees. Loquat fruit in the South is most commonly known as the Japanese Plum, but in Texas its less common name is the Chinese Plum. The loquat tree when mature can grow 35 feet tall; however, the soft wood in the limbs and trunk will self-prune the tree to lower heights after experiencing the heavy weight of huge fruit crops. Most plant parts of the loquat tree are covered with fuzzy little hairs except on the trunk of the tree, where they are replaced by smooth bark. The loquat fruit itself is covered with these fuzzy little hairs much like the fuzz on the skin of a peach. The fruit of the loquat is bright yellow on the skin and the pulp on the inside. Some rare cultivars originating from Japan may develop an orange skin and a white pulp. Inside the pulp is a 2-3 cluster of large brown seeds that are easily removed from the edible, interior, tasty layers of the loquat. The fruit size of loquats is 2 inches or less and the shape and taste is similar to that of a kumquat fruit, perhaps a little less acidic and sweeter than a mature kumquat. The delicious, juicy taste of the loquat fruit rivals any common fruit, and preserved jams is a treat to be remembered when eaten on hot buttered toast. Because of the fuzzy skin surrounding the loquat fruit, many gardeners prefer to peel off the fuzz before eating fresh or before preserving to use in pies or gourmet dishes. The leaves of a mature loquat tree vary considerably in size, usually ranging from six to twelve inches in length and the dark-green waxy leaves are prominently bisected with recessed leaf veins. In the fall around Thanksgiving holidays, the loquat tree loads itself with clusters of one inch white flowers, which are extremely fragrant and especially pleasing when trees are planted near patio entertainment centers. The loquat fruit can begin to ripen in South Georgia as early as February and March and in an extended ripening period, depending on the weather, the loquat may continue to ripen into June. The loquat has been designated on some websites as only capable of producing fruit in areas south of Jacksonville, Florida, but this is incorrect. Loquats produce fruit reliably every year throughout Southern Georgia and coastal areas up to North Carolina. The loquat trees have survived low temperatures of zero degrees Fahrenheit in Georgia, and have returned to fruit later. The roots of a loquat tree are shallow and the soft tissue grows rapidly to establish a vigorous system. Although the ripening time of loquat fruit is not always predictable, the fruit is grown all over Europe, because of low production costs, the delicious flavor and the early time of ripening that causes the loquat to sell at premium pricesbeing available for markets before most other fruits. In Europe the loquats are sold at roadside markets and popularly sold in paper cones on the Isle of Capri, just off the coast of Italy. In the United States very little marketing activities are directed towards selling loquats to compete with other fruits, but some hybridizers are trying to develop cultivars with fruit having a large size, few seed, more pulp, sweet balance of flavor, and improved cold resistance. The fruits of loquat trees are loved not only by humans, but by wildlife, and dogs also love the fruit after it falls to the ground. Extensive tests have not been done on nutritional benefits of loquat fruit, but scanty chemical analysis has shown that the loquat contains substantial amounts of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and minerals such as Calcium, Potassium, Phosphorus, and Iron. The fresh fruit medicates like a sedative and will stop uncontrollable vomiting or a manic thirst. For a tropical look the loquat works well in the landscape and form. The dense foliage provides an excellent block to street traffic or undesirable neighbors. The loquat tree can grow thirty-five feet tall, but usually a heavy load of fruit forces the tree to be self-pruned at around ten feet. The plant also makes a desirable, large tub specimen. The leaves are dark waxy-green with a woolly texture underneath. The large stiff leaves are about twelve inches long and three inches wide, much like magnolia leaves in appearance. The tree is popular as a motel landscape or office building tree, because of its beautiful form and evergreen nature with the additional benefit of a juicy, tasty delicious fruit that is available over a long season. How the Rules of Dating Have Changed

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

By Morgan Hamilton The rules of dating have changed drastically for American singles in this modern age of Internet dating services and fast-paced living. The rules of dating for both men and women have become a lot more complicated than they were a generation or so ago. I am happy with these changes because I think that the old social norms are flawed. The traditional approach where women waited to be pursued and never made the first move should be left behind in the past. These old norms are really unfair to men who would rather take a more passive role and to women who had more dominant personalities. In the past the rules were clear and understood by everyone, but everything is now different. The passing of time made have things much more complicated than they have ever been. Fortunately, people can turn to dating services that can help them understand the present rules of dating. Everything is quite simple if you go to a speed dating event. All you have to do is talk for a few minutes to a variety of potential matches. Perhaps you will be able to find people who have tastes that are similar to yours. From there the rules of dating will sort themselves out. However, nobody is sure if the social norms will stabilize and make the rules of dating easier to decode. Nevertheless, knowledge about the proper thing to do on a date is a matter of great importance for both men and women. In this day and age, many advice columnists and writers make their whole career off of people’s dating anxiety. Every one of each of them has a different approach when it comes to rules of dating. I think that there is no satisfactory guide to dating etiquette because we are in such an informal culture. The key to being in a date is to always act comfortable and at ease. If you are at ease, then your manner can put other people at ease. Your date can still be a success, even if you do not have a perfect grasp of the rules of dating.
